The Trusts Ecohouse is a wonderful demonstration of sustainable building practices. Over the last couple of years the house has been occupied by tenants and has demonstrated high levels of savings in: energy use –reduced by 33%; Water use –reduced by 66%.
The house required almost no additional space heating in winter, was dry and comfortable, and the tenants reported health improvements in their asthmatic children.
All this, and the house was built for less than the cost of your average equivalent sized home. That, combined with the long-term savings prove that it doesn’t cost any more to be sustainable!
